The People of La Junta for Preservation is a 501c3 non-profit organization rooted in La Junta, Presidio County, Texas.
About us
La Junta is the oldest continuously cultivated region in North America, dating back to 1500 BC.
The People of La Junta refers to the Native communities surrounding "La Junta de los Ríos", or the confluence of the Rio Conchos and Rio Grande. Some of these communities include the Jumano, Julime, Chisos, Concho, Lipan Apache among many others.
Vision
Preservation of regional sacred and historical lands for public spaces through restoration and caretaking.
